When Alice got to Wonderland what did she see there? Well in this version you are seeing her through the keyhole. This wall hanging altered book/ book carving has been created from a vintage ledger. The ledger was damaged and mostly plain paper. The background of this art work has been created with selected words from the ledger that could relate to Alice and the story. The book is sealed and is wall hanging. This art work is part of a on going practice for Echo Mines Studio for using damaged, obsolete books, reclaimed materials and embracing the beauty in the damage. The book had gold guild paint on the damaged parts to emulate the practice of Kintsugi along side the practice of Wabi Sabi.
The vast majority of books used in these carvings are mass produced, obsolete, out of date or cost to much to repair to the value of the item
These books are not suitable for children and are not toys. Books are not readable and are art pieces only. Only suitable for dry and cool environments.
