Props and Set Dressing
I was asked to do some work for Mimic Escape in Leighton Buzzard, I created various pieces of set dressing, parts of puzzles and also the items below. This is a select few as we don't want to give the puzzles away
Fake Cast Iron Pipe for An Escape Room
-
Prop Cast Iron Pipe
One of the puzzles in the escape room involves a old cast iron pipe which is sat outside the front of the farm house. To buy a old cast iron pipe is very expensive so we got creative and decided to make our own with a aluminium pipe. This is the pipe drying next to an original cast iron pipe.
-
Prop Cast Iron Pipe Touch Up
The effect has been created with blackboard paint, baking soda and acrylic paint and then placed in place for the touch up on the brackets to match the pipe.
-
Prop Cast Iron Pipe Installed
The pipe has now been fully installed ready to be used.
Distressed Doors and Coffee rings
-
Distressed Doors & Coffee Rings
Most of the doors were donated to Mimic Gifts for this project but they were new looking pine doors. The client requested the doors to be aged down and made to look dirty. A total of 3 doors were distressed down this way and one wall cupboard was also destressed.
-
Same Door Before Distressing
The look for this door was created by stripping the varnish off the door, but a patchy strip. White vinegar with wire wool to create a ebonising solution and then painting this on in layers, acrylic paint was painted over the top to create the grey dirt look also done in layers. Other embellishments added were iron work and the exit gate sign.

More Coffee Rings
Part of the puzzle needed hints of where items needed to be placed. The request is for additional coffee rings and outlines of objects on a second shelf.

Rings and Things
Built up in layers with acrylic paint to look like head damage and water damage. some of these marks where to look like dust rings and items would all ready be placed there and some as indicators as to where a object should go.
