Prop Cast Iron Pipe
I have been asked to create a few items for Mimic Escape Rooms for their Great Train Robbery room. They needed a cast iron drain pipe for a puzzle. Cast Iron pipe are very expensive to by now and in order to keep an aged distressed look to the whole escape room experience we looked into how we could do this.

Prop Cast Iron Pipe ( When installed )
The pipe is part of a puzzle and as you can see is darker in colour when its been installed compared to the previous image. The pipe needed to be metal, we used an Aluminium drain pipe, baking soda , black board paint and acrylics for the rust. This was built up in layers to achieve this look.

Distressed Side Exit Door In Mimic Escape Room
Most of the doors were donated to Mimic Gifts for this project but they were new looking pine doors. The client requested the doors to be aged down and made to look dirty. The look for this door was created by stripping the varnish off the door, but a patchy strip. White vinegar with wire wool to create a ebonising solution and then painting this on in layers, acrylic paint was painted over the top to create the grey dirt look also done in layers. Other embellishments added were iron work and the exit gate sign.

Painted Coffee Rings
As part of a puzzle the client needed marks, stains and coffee rings painted on to the dresser to imply items had been there previously and where the gamers needed to put various items in order to complete the puzzle. They needed to be obvious but also blend in. In this image 4 coffee rings were added and also the marks on the second shelf, all hand painted on with Acrylic paint.
I will be opening up my books for commissions and collaborations on set dressing props, if this is something your interested in please contact me via the contact page on this site. Video of room will be coming shortly.
