Echo Mines Studio works on using pre loved items, obsolete, damaged and unwanted object. I often look around sales, antique shops and fairs for items that have just been left at the back of a shelf and just need a bit of TLC.
This bag is one of those very items. It was found in an antique shop at the back of a shelf with loads of other bags on top of it. It was very dry, lost its colour, squashed flat, had hole and lost its strap and had a damaged clasp. So, with a huge amount of TLC its shape has been restored with leather food and is now flexible again, the holes have been sorted with grommets added so they can be used to hang charms etc from them. A brand-new strap has been added (non-adjustable), brand new clasp for the front and the original strap rings still used and a hand painted with a Beetlejuice design. The bag has two hand painted leather patches added on the front.
