When this book came to the studio it has quite literally fallen apart, the stitching had come away and the fabric cover was coming away. It gave me the feeling of being in a shed full of cobwebs and eaten by snails. The book has been cleaned and given lots of TLC to save it from the bin. I have a book of spiders that I have wanted to use for a while and this idea came into being, using a reclaimed clock lens which is square, its so bowed it reminds me of dew on grass and got me thinking of the magnification that you see through dew drops. Even though there isn't really a mention of spiders in The Jungle Book, we all know they are there, so the spider is sitting on its book page web. We also love a bit of kintsugi here at the Mines and we did a slightly different take by using a bronze and silver guild for all the other damage parts. This book is a free standing book carving, suitable as a book nook or book shelf art.
