To date this is the largest book carving I have done. Measuring 32cm tall and weighing a whopping 4.2 kg
This book carving has been created from large unloved French Dictionary. The leather was falling off and so the previous owner told me that they would be binned if he didn't sell them. The leather was treated and conditioned then the book was carved both sides with illustrations from a mixture of illustrations left over from previous book carvings I have created. Reclaimed glass has been added to both side to protect it from dust. The book will come with provenance in the form of a book mark with information about the carving was created. This is a bespoke art work that will never be recreated again. This piece can be displayed on a shelf and turned in which ever direction you wish it to face or even better displayed Infront of a mirror so both sides can be seen.
Most the books shown in my store have been created using damaged book, obsolete or second-hand books, With reclaimed glass or Perspex. Every book is unique and different and you will not find another one the same. Every book is picked because of one or many of the following things such as the illustrations, the patina and or wear and tear and are seen as part of the art work and not an imperfection or a fault.
Please note books cannot be opened and are not suitable for children to play with. These are free standing or wall mounted works of art.
Free postage worldwide, all items are tracked when posted. Returns are accepted but and any postage costs for returns will be needed to be paid for by the buyer and will need to have a tracking number as I will not be held responsible for any losses.
