Echo Mines Studio creates one of a kind bespoke art works by finding the beauty in the damage found on reclaimed materials.
This book carving is my version of when Alice first meets the Cheshire Cat. When Alice in on her journey through Wonderland she comes across the Cheshire Cat at the folk of the road, she asks the cat which way she should go. The Cheshire Cat asks where Alice is going, she doesn't know, so the Cheshire Cat replies any path will do.
This is a hand carved altered book and has been created from an old damaged French encyclopaedia, mushroom illustrations from a different book and illustrations from an Alice in Wonderland book. At the back of the book behind the trees is a water colour paint sky. The damage on the outside of the book has gold guild applied to give the book a Kintsugi style look. The book can be free standing but this one has a hanging wire so it can be wall hung. The book has plexiglass at the front to keep the altered book clean. Please note this is not a toy and is not suitable for children. The book is sealed shut and cannot be read.
